Pakistan’s ‘Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam’ Wins Asian Academy Creative Award for Best Drama

The Sarwat Gilani and Sanam Saeed starrer web series was nominated for the ‘Best Single Drama/Telemovie/Anthology Episode’ category.

Pakistani actors appear to be on a roll with getting global recognition and winning international awards this year, and the crime fiction drama Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam a Zee5 web series featuring some of Pakistan’s best female actors — just bagged the award for Best Single Drama/ Anthology at the Asian Academy Creative Awards

Directed by British-Indian director Meenu Gaur and written by Farjad Nabi, the series stars Sarwat Gilani, Sanam Saeed, Eman Suleman, Mehar Bano, Faiza Gillani, Beo Raana Zafar, and Samiya Mumtaz.

Sarwat Gilani thanked the Asian Academy Creative Awards for the “huge honor” and congratulated the Qatil Haseenaoun Ke Naam team, saying, “A big high five and lots of love to my wonderful team of Qatil Haseenas: Shailja Kejriwal, Meenu Gaur, Samiya Mumtaz, Mehar Bano, Samiya Ansari, Sarmed Aftab Jadraan, Ahsan Khan [and] Osman Khalid Butt”.

Sarwat Gilani thanked the Asian Academy Creative Awards for “huge honor.” She also congratulated her Qatil Haseenaoun Ke Naam team, saying, “A big high five and lots of love to my wonderful team of Qatil Haseenas: Shailja Kejriwal, Meenu Gaur, Samiya Mumtaz, Mehar Bano, Samiya Ansari, Sarmed Aftab Jadraan, Ahsan Khan [and] Osman Khalid Butt”.

Her co-star, Sanam Saeed, also congratulated the cast and crew, sharing her experience working in the unique anthology series and remarked on Instagram,

It’s so exciting for us as South Asian female actors to perform in dynamic, risk taking, stereo[type] breaking, exciting new content,” she wrote on her Instagram post.

About the Series

Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam premiered on 10 December last year. The web series is a desi noir anthology that revolves around ‘seven fierce women’ who redefine ‘femme fatale’ with their grit and determination to avenge deceit.

It explores themes of revenge, ambition, love, and revolution.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards is an annual event held every December as part of the Singapore Media Festival and is a celebration of excellence in film and television across the Asia-Pacific region.
