‘Pasoori’ Debuts at No. 161 on Spotify’s Worldwide Rankings

The renowned song by Coke Studio also eclipsed BTS’s ‘Butter’ last week.

Pasoori has remained a trend in Pakistan, across the border, and around the world for weeks after its premiere on 6 February 2022, inspiring covers, TikTok, and fan art. The banger placed third on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 list in March.

It is currently only a few streams away from eclipsing Tones and I’s song Dance Monkey, The Chainsmokers’ song Something Just Like This, and Post Malone’s song Circles.

Pasoori even topped India’s Spotify rankings last month, which came as no surprise given that the song smashed the internet when it was published on 7 February.

Ali Sethi commemorated the occasion last month by posting an image of the list along with an account of Pasoori’s inception. He said that Coke Studio’s producer, Xulfi, had thought the song would be well-received across the world.

“When Zulfiqar J. Khan heard this melody, which I provided him on a voice note a year ago, he assured me calmly that it will hit the global charts,” he recalled.

“I laughed, drank my coffee, and forgot about it. I awoke today to this… Insanely delighted for Abdullah Siddiqui, Shae Gill, Sherry Khattak, and Zulfiqar — many congrats to all of you loves — dildaarss) and sab yaars.

Pasoori garnered over 10 million views on YouTube barely 10 days after its debut and now has over 80 million views on the video-sharing platform.
