Petition Filed To Release Rano The Bear

The poor animal looks tired and dehydrated.

Animal rights activists from Karachi have filed a petition in the Sindh High Court against Karachi Zoo for keeping Rano the bear. The video of the bear looking thirsty and exhausted went viral on social media. The public reaction to poor animal’s dismal condition has sparked outrage nationwide.

Rano is a 20-year-old Syrian brown bear who has been a star attraction at Karachi Zoo for many years. Over the course of time, the animal has lost his charm and energy. It is easy to see why as the poor animal lives in a concrete enclosure with metal bars. The bear can be seen roaming around in circles, tired and dehydrated.

It doesn’t take an expert to realize that the poor animal is distressed. Check out this short video:

Court Warns Karachi Zoo to Install AC Inside the Bear Enclosure

Rano has been the center of public attention for some time now. The famous bear’s condition has been deteriorating for a while as animal rights activists demanded that the zoo release the creature to its natural habitat.

Karachi Zoo’s administration and staff has been heavily criticized for their carelessness and lack of experience in looking after exotic creatures. The zoo staff came under fire recently for not even creating a cool environment to protect the bear from Karachi’s humid atmosphere.

Eventually, the zoo installed an air conditioner and added a few ice slabs to Rano’s enclosure. However, this action comes a little too late as the bear’s condition continues to worsen. Animal activists have filed a petition to release Rano to her natural habitat.

The Karachi Zoo has yet to make a statement about the petition filed against them in court. Stay posted for more updates.
