PM Shehbaz Sharif Claps Back at Zimbabwean President’s Dig at Pakistan’s WT20 Defeat

Pak Bean got the two heads of state all up in a Twitter feud.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif just gave a strong retort to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s jab at Pakistan after the men in green’s shocking T20i World Cup defeat in Perth last night.

What was once a joke has now become the catalyst for an all-new ‘rivalry’ between the two nations. In fact, the fake Mr. Bean has gotten the two heads of state for Zimbabwe and Pakistan into a Twitter feud!

Zimbabwe’s President congratulated his side for the historic World Cup win on Thursday, before taking a dig at Pakistan by telling it to send the real Mr. Bean next time.

Not one to stay quiet, Pakistan’s premier clapped back at Mnangagwa’s ‘insult’ saying that Pakistan “may not have real Mr. Bean, but we have real cricketing spirit”.

He also shut down the naysayers in a tweet that read: “we Pakistanis have a funny habit of bouncing back”.

He concluded his tweet by congratulating the Zimbabwean president for the historic victory.

A tweep hilariously pointed out that Zimbabwe still believes that Pakistan is hiding the real Mr. Bean.

Who is Pak Bean?

The Pakistani Mr. Bean is a comedian by the name of Muhammad Asif from Kharadar, Karachi. He became a viral celebrity due to his uncanny resemblance to the British sit-com character.

In 2016, Pakistan sent Asif to perform at the Harare Agricultural Show as the iconic character. Ironically, the Zimbabwean organizers thought he was the real Mr. Bean and people rushed over to take pictures with him.

Heartbreak at Perth

On Thursday, Pakistan suffered a shock defeat by Zimbabwe. The men in green lost the match by just one run and are now on the verge of missing out on the World Cup semi-finals.

Pakistan will have to bounce back to win their remaining matches and hope a couple of other teams lose theirs to India.
