Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have gone full-blown independent, looks like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want more freedom too. Prince William and Kate Middleton just started their own YouTube channel.

Standard protocol is for the Royal family’s official handles to release statements on behalf of everyone in the royal family.

It seems the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want something more personal to speak for them. So they started their own YouTube channel.

The couple’s first video opens with Prince William warning Kate Middleton to be careful as everything she says is being recorded. To which she asserts ‘I know’.

The video then cuts to the couple’s philanthropic duties as a royal. It even featured visuals from the royal couple’s visit to Pakistan.

It seems the channel will be used to promote the royal couple’s work. The second upload on the channel was a collection of Kate Middelton’s telephone calls with the ‘Hold Still project’ participants.

“Introducing the first of a series of telephone calls that The Duchess held with participants from the Hold Still project. The calls, which took place last autumn saw The Duchess speak to a number of the 100 finalists who shared their experiences of life during the first COVID-19 lockdown in the UK by submitting an image to Hold Still.”
