PTI Lawmaker Says Eating Locust Can Make Us Immune Against COVID-19

Wait what?

COVID-19

Just when you thought people might have learned their lesson about sharing fake news about ‘cures’ for coronavirus, someone reminds us that we are nowhere near doing just that. This time, it was a member of Parliament himself, who came up with another ‘cure for covid-19.’

Member of National Assembly (MNA) Riaz Fatiana asked if we should look into eating locusts to build immunity against the Coronavirus.

He started off by explaining that it’s a common assumption that eating locusts will help build immunity against COVID-19. He then suggested that we spend taxpayer money on research if eating locust really does help build immunity. Particularly against the Coronavirus.

These kinds of ideas have no scientific basis

That way they could hit two birds with one stone, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the locust infestation. Now if the average citizen suggested this we might even share a laugh.

However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Riaz Fatiana is the Head of Parliament’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) taskforce. The future of the sustainability of our resources, climate, environment, and our development is in the hands of this man.

We can’t really fathom what’s more horrifying 0 Riaz Fatiana as the Head of Parliament’s SDG taskforce or Zartaj Gul Wazir as the Minister for Climate Change. The future ain’t looking too bright.

Amid the current pandemic, the fear is really setting in.

Did we bring this on ourselves? We did elect these people, remember?

Well, fear of job security certainly got the better of this netizen.

While many social media users were alarmed, some pointed out how PTI does have competent well-read members that could do a better job in key positions.

We hope this ‘idea’ is dropped soon. There are still some things we can do to protect against coronavirus.
