PTV Will Air Classic Drama ‘Angar Wadi’ To Highlight the Kashmir Cause

The drama first debuted in 1994.

In an effort to show our solidarity and support for the Kashmiri population living under siege by the Indian army, PTV has announced that it will telecast the popular drama Angar Wadi once again.

This decision came after Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Rubina Khalid gave permission to the national broadcast channel to re-telecast the brilliant drama.

Written and produced by the late great Abdul Rauf Khalid, a renowned actor, filmmaker and writer, Angar Wadi is an 18-episode thriller that first aired in 1994.

The drama showcases the Kashmir cause and pays tribute to the fallen heroes who fought for freedom against the Indian oppression.

Senator Rubina is the wife of the late writer and actor. She stated that she wants the drama to air once again so that it helps highlight the Kashmir issue and educate the youth about the importance and struggle of people living in the disputed territory.

“I have allowed PTV to re-telecast it without demanding any share in the revenue it’ll generate,” Senator Rubina Khalid said.

She also added that it would be something that her husband would have appreciated as Abdul Rauf Khalid believed the promotion of arts and culture among youth is key to fighting terrorism.

“He strongly believed that if Pakistan had to defeat terrorists and terrorism, it will have to promote the arts and culture among the youth to boost diversity and creativity.”

Rubina Khalid also wishes for PTV to broadcast a tribute to her late husband as a token of respect and honor.

Abdul Rauf Khalid died on 24 November 2011, in a tragic traffic accident near Sheikhupura. He lives on through his wife and their three children.
