PTV Will Air ‘Turkish Game of Thrones’ in Urdu!

On the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan Television (PTV) is all set to air the world-famous Turkish historical fiction series “Dirilis: Ertugrul” in Urdu dubbing soon.

As per sources from the state television, PM Khan has asked the PTV authorities to dub all five seasons of the famous serial in Urdu for the Pakistani audience.

Khan, while addressing a public gathering, had recommended people to watch the popular opera to promote the love for actual Islamic values.

Often referred to as the ‘Turkish Game of Thrones’ by fans, ‘Dirilis: Ertugrul’ is set in 13th century Anatolia before the establishment of the Ottoman Empire.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information, Firdaus Ashiq Awan, told media that PTV has already acquired all rights from the Turkish state TV TRT 1.

“The Muslim world has its own cultural heritage and values, but we are looking into western ones. To protect our social cultural and religious norms, the prime minister has taken the initiative.”

The drama is currently going through the dubbing process, and authorities are carefully choosing the voice artists to captivate the audience, she added.

Ertugrul has been the premier run on Turkish state channel TRT 1 since November 2014, and so far, has been telecasted in over 60 countries.
