Renowned TV anchor Rabia Anum has called out the showrunners of Tere Bin for the mind-boggling plot twist in the latest episode.
Viewers were left traumatized after the show implied marital rape of Meerab (Yumna Zaidi) by Murtasim (Wahaj Ali). In order to dodge public scrutiny, the show’s creator haphazardly “fixed” the script to reveal that the act was consensual but both characters felt guilty for their actions.
Nobody is convinced by that, especially Rabia Anum, who said what we’re all thinking — “Awaam kya 🐜 hain?”
Rabia Anum took to Twitter to express her disappointment over the show’s dumb plot twist. She tweeted,
All I want to say after watching today’s episode of Tere Bin “Awaam Kya koi chuntiyan 🐜 hain? “
The popular Geo TV drama serial Tere Bin is trending on social media for all the wrong reasons. What was once the most viewed and hit show of 2023 has become a cringey soap opera on par with Star Plus.
In last week’s episode, Meerab slapped Murtasim and spat at his face during an argument. In response, Murtasim got angry and pushed Meerab onto the bed and closed the door.
The scene implied marital rape and domestic abuse in the next episode. This traumatizing teaser did not sit well with the viewers who bombarded the showrunners for glamorizing toxic marriages and abuse for ratings.
The backlash was so severe that producer Abdullah Kadwani had to calm the masses down by urging them “not to jump to conclusions”.
As a result, the latest episode of Tere Bin was poorly received as it became obvious the script was rewritten and several scenes featured poorly edited voiceovers to convince audiences that Murtasim did not abuse Meerab.
People found the new “plot twist” hilarious as netizens trolled the show on Twitter.
