Renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s wife, Nida Rahat’s car has been seized by the Excise and Taxation Department officials on Friday (today). The singer’s wife has been accused of tax evasion.

According to the details, Nida Rahat did not pay the token tax of her car for the last 10 years. In her defense, she said that she ‘forgot’ to pay the taxes. This pushed the officials to impound the vehicle at Wateen Chowk in Lahore.

Reports suggest that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s wife is a tax defaulter of Rs.132,000.

It is worthy to note here that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan himself has evaded tax several times. In fact, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently sent him notice regarding his assets and bank accounts.

The singer was asked to submit his reply to the bureau as he has failed to give satisfactory explanations previously.

The investigation began in October last year when FBR made an inquiry regarding his earnings from concerts abroad. The bank accounts under question were traced back to Rahat and the FBR demanded a reply from him by December 23.
