Controversial YouTuber and content creator Rajab Butt has landed in hot water yet again, as a new case has been filed against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to blasphemy.
The case, registered at Nishtar Colony Police Station, has sparked a fresh wave of debate online.
The controversy stems from Butt’s recent perfume launch, provocatively titled ‘295’. The name has drawn sharp criticism, with accusations that it disrespects blasphemy laws. Critics argue that the title references the late Indian singer Sidhu MooseWala, who was known for his song ‘295’ and had faced similar legal issues.
The complaint, filed by Ramzan Bhatti, accuses Butt of making a “provocative move” by associating the number 295 with his product, which has angered various communities. Bhatti claims the perfume’s name is a deliberate attempt to stir controversy and disrespect sensitive religious sentiments.
As expected, social media has erupted with mixed reactions. While many have condemned Rajab Butt for his actions, accusing him of crossing the line with his perfume launch, others have come to his defense, arguing for creative freedom and calling the backlash an overreaction.
One user tweeted, “Naming a perfume ‘295’ is provocative, but filing a blasphemy case? That’s a stretch.” Another wrote, “Rajab Butt needs to learn that not everything is content. Some things are sacred.”
Meanwhile, Butt’s supporters argue that the perfume’s name is being blown out of proportion, with one fan commenting, “It’s just a name. People need to stop finding reasons to be offended.”
