In a bizarre plot that looks like it come straight out of Bollywood blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, an Indian man from Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district married his wife to her boyfriend.
The bhola-bhala husband had been married to his wife for a year, blissfully unaware that she was have a romantic affair with another man from Bihar. The affair remained a well-kept secret until her “Salman Khan”, aka Akash Shah, decided to pay a visit to her in-laws’ house one fateful Friday night.
While the local neighbors beat the crap out of the young lover, the husband decided to take his beloved wife and her beaten up boyfriend to a nearby temple and married them off.
Akash Shah, hailing from Bihar’s Gopalganj, revealed that he had been in a romantic relationship with the woman for a staggering two years. Even her marriage to another man did not extinguish his feelings for her, leading him to make the fateful journey to her home.
The pivotal moment came when the woman pleaded with him to let her go with her lover. In an act of astonishing understanding, the husband agreed to her request, much to the surprise of onlookers and local residents.
Without further ado, the man managed to obtain consent from both families and then, in a scene right out of Bollywood’s most dramatic wedding sequences, escorted his wife and her boyfriend to a nearby temple. There, in a whirlwind ceremony, he oversaw their union as husband and wife.
To add a touch of Bollywood masala, the new-newlyweds were sent off on the very same motorcycle that Akash rode on to their doorstep. Somebody better get Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to write the script!
