Popular Indian singer KK (aka Krishnakumar Kunnath) passed away on Tuesday. The 53-year-old singer was in Kolkata performing a gig for thousands of his fans. According to reports, KK fell down the stairs of his hotel where he was staying for the duration of his concert.
Fans mourn the tragic loss of the singer as his last post on social media was him acknowledging his fans in attendance at the Nazrul Mancha auditorium.
“Pulsating gig tonight at Nazrul Mancha. Vivekananda College, KK wrote, “Love you all!”
Krishnakumar Kunnath, or popularly known as KK, was a legendary Indian playback singer. The 53-year-old recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages. KK began his career singing commercial jingles before making his debut for a film soundtrack with the renowned A.R. Rahman.
In 1999, KK made his official debut with the critically acclaimed album Pal. From 2000s onwards, following the success of his debut album, KK made a name for himself in Bollywood, recording some of the greatest hit songs that people fondly remember to this day.
