Asma Nabeel – A warrior

Asma Nabeel gave us outstanding projects like, Khaani, Khuda Mera Bhi Hai and Maan Jao Naa. Besides her contributions to the Pakistani entertainment industry, she was also a fierce breast cancer awareness advocate. She was fighting the disease for a long time and recently starred in a video campaign which highlights the prevalence of breast cancer in Pakistan. The Ali Xeeshan campaign was titled ‘Pardeh Mein Parwah‘.

Her production house, Crew Motion Pictures, also announced the production of the feature film Fly that aims to tackle the taboo subject of breast cancer on the big screen.

In a previous interview, the writer reflected on her past and recollected her memories when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Let me tell you a little about what that old Asma was like when she got the devastating news. I was in advertising at that time, something I was doing for about 17 years. A normal human being, good with work, very ambitious but always cranky, and I think a little thankless too, the way most of us usually are, regardless of how much we make out of our lives.”

But after going through so much, she changed and became more empathetic.

“Yes, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude. The Asma you are talking to right now is very loving, more empathetic and brimming with gratitude. This is my second chance at life; and it came with a gift of writing.”
