From attempted robberies to petty street crimes, criminal activities seem to be on a rise. In the last 10 months, an estimated number of 322 people lost their lives in Karachi while resisting a robbery. But the most recent crime report from the city’s Nazimabad area is shocking, to say the least.

Yesterday, 2 robbers attacked a young boy in Nazimabad Block 1 at gunpoint and searched his belongings for valuables. The boy was reportedly going for a karate class where he rang the doorbell and waited for his instructor.

In the meanwhile, 2 men on a bike approached him. One cornered him at gunpoint, while the other waited on his bike. The petty robbers found nothing but a 100 Rupee note and fled the scene. The CCTV footage shared by ARY News shows that the men did not cover their faces.

Let’s take a look at the video:

This incident took place on Monday night, and the victim of this robber was left unharmed.

Crime continues to rise

Others were not so lucky as this boy. On November 8th, a police constable was shot dead after attempting to intervene in another street robbery.

Head Constable at the Azizabad police station, Fayyaz Khan, was on his way to work when he saw 2 muggers at the Karimabad Bridge. After exchanging fire with them, the constable managed to shoot down one of the muggers, while the other fled the scene.

According to the police reports, Fayyaz Khan sustained 2 bullet wounds and passed away on his way to the Civil Hospital.

He exchanged fire with both the suspects, killing one of them as the other succeeded in fleeing away from the spot.

Street crime seems to be on a rise in Karachi, especially since the lockdown was lifted. But this mugging incident in Nazimabad has left everyone speechless.
