Saba Qamar Highlights Rishta Hunting, Body Shaming and More [Video]

She is back!

Saba Qamar

Saba Qamar has been giving us wholesome content through her YouTube channel ever since the lockdown began.

Through her vlogs and videos, she raises awareness about some of the most neglected issues of Pakistani society and also comments on the hypocrisy we see around us.

In the past few videos, she has touched on the subjects of mental health, misogyny, etc.

Written and directed by Saba Qamar herself, the latest video is a brilliant satire on the stereotypical mindset of Pakistanis.

Saba Qamar Digs Deeper

The Lahore Se Agey actress tackled the issues of rishta hunting, body shaming, ignored talent , and gender equality.

As individuals, we live in a society that is obsessed with the question of marriage. Marriage is supposed to be a deeply beautiful and personal thing. But unfortunately, society has turned it into a profession and cattle market.

A ‘qualified woman’ must come from a ‘good background’ regardless of the fact that the guy she is supposed to spend her life with hasn’t even evolved into a conscientious human being yet. Perhaps this is why ‘rishta aunties’ demand lakhs just to get the two settled.

Saba Qamar takes a hilarious turn on this issue and educates people that marriage isn’t a business.

Another important issue that we see these days is that of body shaming. No one has ever escaped from the judgemental eyes of society. People have always tried to give you ‘free k mashwarey’ on how to lose/put on weight or how to become taller. But nobody ever thinks about the human heart under those layers of skin and tissues.

Some people are even rejected from job interviews or auditions because of the way they look. Some employers turn a blind eye to their talent and advise jobseekers to come back when they have ‘improved their physical appearance’.

Lastly, Saba Qamar highlighted the issue of gender quality. Without going too deep into the issue, she tried telling her audience that we shouldn’t obsess over sons. If a couple doesn’t have a son then it is totally fine. Daughters are just as much adorable, responsible and they too can become their ‘sahara’ when they get old. So we must ‘educate our minds’.
