Saba Qamar : I Don’t Have a Sugar Daddy, I Pay My Own Bills

Saba Qamar

Successful women are often subjected to misogynistic and sexist remarks such as ‘who’s the man supporting you’. However, for Pakistani megastar Saba Qamar the subject just kind of came up.

During an interview, the topic of the artiste’s daunting choice of roles came up.

“Tolerating tyranny is a sin. So why are we tolerating it? If something wrong happens shouldn’t we speak up. I don’t understand the silence. Who are we afraid of? As humans we are fearing humans. If we don’t bring change, change will never happen.”

She called out actors for taking such regressive roles. Even going as far as to nullify the claim, ‘the public wants such content’, asserting how they gravitate towards Netflix and Amazon for progressive content.

That’s when she asserted that she selects roles based on quality not for money.

“I don’t want to earn money. Well of course I need money, I want to survive. Obviously, I don’t have a sugar daddy, I pay my own bills,” she chuckled.

She even asserted how aside from a successful woman being behind a successful man, there’s also a successful woman behind a successful woman.

In her interview with Something Haute, the I Love You Bunty starlet talked about a range of things from her work with Naumaan Ijaz in ‘Mrs & Mr Shamim‘ to working with Manto breakout actor Sarmad Khoosat.

The superstar is currently promoting her upcoming film ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai‘. Prior to that, her role in Sarmad Khoosat’s Kamli was all the rage.

On the small screen, we’ll get to see the starlet again in Fraud. As well as Tumhare Husn Kay Naam, her first project with Imran Abbas. Then there’s the crime thriller we really look forward to seeing her in, Serial Killer.
