A lawyer slapped Karachi businessman Salman Farooqi during his court appearance on Tuesday. Farooqi, who was arrested for assaulting a young motorcyclist in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Karachi, was presented before a city court by Gizri police along with another accused.
Tensions flared in the courtroom as a group of lawyers physically pushed the accused during the proceedings. The situation escalated when one lawyer slapped Farooqi, prompting police to quickly escort him out of the court for his safety while others hurled abuse.

Advocate Naeem Qureshi, representing Farooqi, submitted a bail application, arguing that the case is bailable. The investigating officer requested physical remand, while the defense proposed a one-day remand. The court ultimately granted a two-day physical remand and directed police to submit a progress report at the next hearing.

According to police officials, Salman Farooqi was located and apprehended in Defence using his phone’s location. He was taken into custody near Khayaban-e-Zulfiqar and transferred to the police station for further investigation. The luxury car involved in the incident was recovered from a friend’s residence in Defence, based on information provided by Farooqi.
The charges include assault, criminal intimidation, abduction, unlawful confinement, use of abusive language, and mistreatment of the victim. Police have also detained Farooqi’s guard and another individual during the investigation.
