Saraiki Folk Singer Shafaullah Rokhri Passes Away

Another legend lost.

Renowned Saraiki folk singer Shafaullah Rokhri passed away over the weekend. The famed Sammi Meri Waar singer died due to cardiac arrest.

According to Dunya News, Shafaullah Rokhri was rushed to the hospital when he complained of experiencing heart pains. Despite being rushed to the hospital immediately, he could not survive the heart attack.

The veteran artist’s body is being shifted to his ancestral village Rokhri, Mianwali. His last rites are being organized to take place and his hometown will be his final resting place. The exact time of the funeral prayer has not been announced.

Shafaullah Rokhri Legacy

The Saraiki folk singer was known for old folk songs like Sammi Meri Waar, Lohay Da Chimta, and Kala Jora Pa.

His own tracks like Pardesi Dhola, Rohi, Husan Da Badshah were equally famed and loved. His last track Sanwal was released in 2020.

He hadn’t released an album of new tracks in a while. However, he would revamp old singles often.

Shafaullah Rokhri still holds a place in the hearts of Saraiki music lovers across the country.

The late folk legend is survived by his son Zeeshan Rokhri. Zeeshan has also followed in the footsteps of his father and rose to the heights of the folk music industry.

He must now carry on the legacy left behind by his father.
