Scooby Doo Creator Ken Spears Passes Away At 82

His partner Joe Ruby died a few months ago.

Beloved cartoon creator Ken Spears has passed away at the age of 82. The co-creator of the globally popular Scooby Doo franchise died due to complications that arose from a rare disease called Lewy body dementia (LBD).

It is official. The two men behind the beloved Scooby Doo franchise, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, have passed on. 2020 has to be one of the worst years in recent memory as we have lost a lot of people this year (and we still have another month to go!).

Just a few months ago, the world mourned the loss of Joe Ruby. And now, we have lost the two men who made everyone’s childhood memorable with amazing cartoon shows.

Ken was a true innovator whose storytelling and humor delighted audiences for generations. Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios President sent their thoughts and prayers to Spears’s family over their loss. Ken’s son, Kevin, informed the media about his father’s death.

“Ken will forever be remembered for his wit, his storytelling, his loyalty to family and strong work ethic. Ken has not only made a lasting impression on his family but he has touched the life of many as co-creator of Scooby Doo. Ken has a been a role model for us throughout his life and he will continue to live on in our hearts,” he said.

Ken Spears will forever be remembered for making our childhood memories with wonderful cartoon series.
