As the floods in Pakistan affect some two million people, many are criticizing the government for poorly handling the situation. So when Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari tried to shift the blame on mother nature alone, Anoushey Ashraf indirectly schooled her.
In a tweet, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari critiqued people that are bashing the government over the current state of emergency due to the natural disaster.
“Floods are NOT caused by bad governance. #Rain spells since June with some non stop since July & still continue. NOT due to blocked drains but sheer volume – cities are under water. #Sindh hit the worst. Affected the lives of millions – either help contribute or stay silent.”

So Anoushey Ashraf took to Instagram and called out how while the government cannot control the weather, its job is better governance to manage the situation. Had pre-emptive measures been taken the damage would have been minimized.
She called such comments tone-deaf and really called out the lack of responsibility by those in office.
On the other hand, it is pertinent to mention how the responsibility for effective climate change efforts also falls on the government.
In another Instagram post, she called out how climate change is the precursor of the current state of emergency. While it was the government that had to enforce measures for that on a state level.
Even referring to the story of Noah’s Ark. How despite not being able to control the rain, he did all that he could in order to save as much of the population as he could.
She really called out corrupt government practices saying;
“Sometimes it takes a natural disaster to reveal a social disaster” — Jim Wallis. There are no disasters of Nature. With Human population on the rise and the exploitation of nature and wildlife to no limits we bring such calamities upon ourselves. Petra Nemcova once said: We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge. SO many lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough disaster preparedness. #pakistan #flood #climatechange #global #corruption #mafia”

Definitely an educated person reply to a spoilt brat of rotal family.
