Shamoon Abbasi Reveals Why He Turned Down Khalil-Ur-Rehman’s Film [Video]

Actor Shamoon Abbasi reveals that he once turned down Khalil-Ur-Rehman for a film. Apparently, the actor was not comfortable playing the infamous Indian pilot Abhinandan.

Shamoon Abbasi is a versatile and talented actor. He is best known for taking roles that are unique and intriguing, which is why it shouldn’t come as surprise to not see Shamoon in typical drama lead roles. However, there was one unique role that even Shamoon didn’t felt comfortable doing.

Recently, Shamoon Abbasi made a guest appearance on the popular talk show Hasna Mana Hai with host Tabish Hashmi. During the interview, Tabish recalls the time Shamoon Abbasi turned down screenwriter Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar for a movie project. Everyone wanted to know why the actor turned down the project.

Shamoon Abbasi made it clear that Khalil-Ur-Rehman is a great writer but the role he was offering was about the infamous Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman.

“I didn’t like the part I where I would be getting beaten up the local crowd,” Shamoon jokingly says. “He (Khalil) pleaded with me to do it but I politely refused the role.”

In 2019, the Indian pilot Abhinandan set social media abuzz after crashing in Pakistan. The 39-year-old was beaten up by the local mob before being recused by the Pakistan Army. He was released back to India and became an internet meme after thanking Pakistan for the tea.
