Karachi’s rain check isn’t the problem the city’s inhabitants have to keep in check. The biggest metropolis in Pakistan now finds its most famous hangout spot in danger. That place is none other than Sea View, and it pains a very sorry picture these days.
Heavy rains have brought in the city’s garbage to the seashore and people are quite alarmed about it.
The Sea View Beach at Clifton is a sad sight. You can see several kilometers of garbage piled up on the waterfront over the past two days. Now it could be one thing if it was just harmless rubbish. But since the tide did not brought this ‘kachra’ in, the beach has become inundated with hazardous hospital waste!
Medical waste, especially several open-needle syringes, pose a severe health risk to citizens visiting the beach in the rainy weather. Not only do these needles deliver contaminants, they can also be picked up and used by addicts.

Shaniera Akram, the wife of former Pakistan cricket team captain Wasim Akram, raised the issue on Twitter. Shaniera shared pictures of the beach in a bid to force authorities to clean up the area.
“There is kilometres of medical waste including hundreds of open needle syringes, among other things, that has come in from the ocean. Clifton beach, at this moment, is extremely dangerous,”

The hazardous biowaste includes open syringes, vials of blood, etc. She called on the media to raise the issue in a bid to lobby for action.
“This is a biohazard,”
News channels need to get down to the beach between chunky monkey and salt and pepper now before these rusty old tractors dig this medical waste deeper in to the sand!

Shaniera Bhabi even cautioned people to try and not take matters into their own hands. The piles of garbage at Sea View Beach are a bio-hazard, and should only be handled by professionals.
“DO NOT go to the beach and try to clean it, this is biohazardous waste and needs to be a restricted area and cleaned by professionals.”
