Following a very public spat with television show host Nadia Khan and her behavior towards Anisa Faruqi, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqi filed a Rs 50 million defamation suit against Nadia Khan.
The PPP leader had stated that she would take legal action against the Dolly Darling actress for making what she described as an offensive video with her mother, Anisa Faruqi. In the video, the morning show host can be seen ‘praising’ Anisa’s makeup at starlet Saboor Aly’s wedding.
Many online slammed the television show host for making jibes at the respected public personality. It wasn’t Netizens alone that were irked, as Sharmila Faruqi dubbed the act as ‘shameless’.
In her legal notice, she specified how;
“Instead of understanding the agony of a daughter, whose mother has been grieving the loss of her husband, and subjected to sarcasm and ridicule by you, you resorted to the same YouTube channel as means of revenge.”
The notice claimed that the TV host violated the privacy of Anisa Faruqi. Hence why her daughter was prompted to take legal action against Nadia Khan. Additionally, it stated that the Zun Mureed actress reduced Anisa Faruqi to ‘ridicule, unjust criticism, dislike, contempt or hatred‘.
“By stating that my client has taken upon the case of her mother against you for media time and that decent families do not function like that, and also that she is using [the] sympathy card against her mother for publicity, not only have you adversely affected my client’s goodwill but have also injured her reputation lowering her estimation of many of her followers/voters/supporters reducing her to ridicule, unjust criticism, dislike, contempt or hatred.”

The PPP leader has demanded that the video be taken down within 15 days from the issuance of the legal notice.
Nadia Khan Hits Back With Countersuit
In response, Nadia Khan plans to clap back with a Rs 50 million legal notice of her own for using derogatory remarks against her. She made the announcement in a post on her Instagram, saying she was sending Sharmila a notice for using, ‘insulting remarks for a woman‘.
After Sharmila Faruqi went to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime head office to lodge a complaint against Nadia Khan on January 20th, the TV show host uploaded a follow-up video.
In her vlog, Nadia Khan stated that ‘perceived intentions’ cannot be punished by any law. She added that she only praised Anisa and meant no disrespect as Netizens and Sharmila are implying.
“Sharmila should be thankful that I praised her mother. Elderly people like to be appreciated and I just did that.”
It is pertinent to mention that Anisa Faruqi is a respectable woman that is revered aside from her association with her late husband and daughter. She has been dealing with a lot lately, from the loss of her husband to years of battling cancer.
Nadia Khan’s comments were immediately slammed by Netizens as a poorly disguised mockery. It is the public outrage that led to the clip becoming viral and Sharmila Faruqi taking action.
