As the whole world is making efforts to assist the affectees amid the Pakistan floods that have affected millions, Bollywood remains silent. Mehwish Hayat is not only appalled by the silence but she’s also calling it out.

An example of the alarming impacts of climate change with its torrential rains and melting glaciers, over a third of Pakistan with parts of Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh are flooded. Aside from global relief bodies like the United Nations, many individuals such as artists and celebrities have globally taken to their social media channels and raised awareness on the matter.

Many even helped to raise funds for the affectees.

So while Bollywood holds its silence, Mehwish Hayat expressed that she’s disappointed by their lack of empathy. The Ms. Marvel actress called on actors and celebrities from across the border to ‘rise above politics. In her Instagram story she said;

“The silence from the Bollywood fraternity is deafening. Suffering knows no nationality, race or religion – no better time for them to show us that they can rise above nationalist politics and care about their fans in Pakistan. We are hurting and a kind word or two would not go amiss.”
