Just as we approach the end of 2019, Nobel Peace laureate, Malala Yousafzai has accomplished another major milestone in her life. The youth activist has become the face of Teen Vogue!

 

Before the magazine closed out its #20teens series, they accumulated some defining characteristics from the last 10 years and concluded that the rise of youth activism has remained the most important feature.

With numerous youth movements such as Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, Fight for Fifteen and Youth Climate Strike to name a few, it is safe to say that the past decade has seen the rise of youth activists that are determined to challenge various injustices happening all around the world.

Malala Yousufzai makes headlines yet again

With the likes of Greta Thunberg emerging and making headlines around the world, it is to be noted that Malala Yousafzai was the first prominent youth activist that caught the world’s attention in recent memory.

One of the most prominent and recognizable figure in this youth movement is the now 22-year-old Malala Yousafzai. The young Pakistani has survived attempted assassination in her request to raise awareness about educating young girls. Her journey has been long and hard, which has made her a global activist, fighting to secure girls’ access to education.

The young Nobel Laureate recently co-founded the Malala Fund alongside popstar Zayn Malik. She even wrote a book and at just the age of 17, became the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. Malala has not slowed down and continues to fight injustice all around the world. She is currently studying philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University.

It is another proud moment for Malala and Pakistanis to see this young girl get the recognition she deserves for all her efforts. We hope to see more of what she does for youth around the world.
