It’s an annual tradition in big cities to ring in the New Year with fireworks. Amid all these elaborate these fireworks some cities go a step further with elaborate displays. That’s when it gets hard to narrow down the top New Year’s Eve fireworks celebrations.
These displays aren’t limited to fireworks. The usual top New Year’s Eve fireworks celebrations are paired with incredible digital artwork on landmarks and light shows.

Shanghai is China’s biggest city and this year they had the best New Year’s Eve celebration. China swapped traditional fireworks with an elaborate drone display. That really knocked the ball out of the ballpark. It’s like we’ve been doing it all wrong this whole time.
With global warming rising, perhaps these drone displays are a far greener option compared to fireworks.

Speaking of global warming, NYC decided to let ‘climate change combatants, high school science teachers and students’ drop the ball this New Year’s Eve. Stilled didn’t go easy on the confetti and fireworks.

Another political statement was that NYC’s Time Square was transformed into ‘the safest place on Earth‘ for the New Year’s celebrations.
There were numerous security measures in place with steps of screening, from magnetometers to explosive vapor canines.

London used New Year’s Eve to promote Euro 2020. The roar of football anthems such as Three Lions made it obvious the country is excited about hosting the football tournament.
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan had promised the ‘best display the capital has ever seen’. It featured music from Stormzy, Wiley, and Bastille. It looked like the city’s Mayor Saqib Khan’s attempt to restore the city’s inclusive and open image amid all that ‘Brexit chatter’.
One thing didn’t change at all, and that was the explosive firework display.

Dubai really took advantage of the ‘world’s tallest building,’ lighting up the Burj Khalifa as the fireworks illuminated the sky overhead.

Despite the tragic bush fires across the country, Sydney showed the world Australia will just get back up and party with a new decade ahead.
There was a petition to cancel the event out of respect for fire victims which gathered 280,000 signatures. While fireworks were canceled in the Australian capital, Canberra, and Sydney’s western suburbs. The main city went ahead with the display.
Sydney has always been in the top New Year’s Eve fireworks celebrations, and earn on average 130 million Australian dollars. It was argued the money will only help those impacted by the fires.
