The Legend of Maula Jatt’s (TLoMJ) producer, Ammara Hikmat, made a startling revelation on Monday — that she has never seen the original Maula Jut starring the late Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Quresh.
The cast of TLoMJ, including Ammara Hikmat, Bilal Lashari and Hamza Ali Abbasi, made a special guest appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s talk show, Super Over, on SAMAA TV. During the interview, Ahmed Ali Butt asked Ammara Hikmat if the 1979 cult classic had inspired her to work with Bilal Lashari on TLoMJ.
She replied that she never finished watching the original Maula Jut.
The host and the audience laughed at the surprising revelation.
Ammara Hikmat added that she had only agreed to work on the Punjabi epic because Bilal Lashari was heading it.
“He [Bilal Lashari] never narrated the story of TLoMJ to me,” she said.
Amma Hikamt continued, “The reason I came on board is because of Bilal. His name was enough. I have never completely watched the original Maula Jatt”.
She also remarked that she feels lucky to be part of such a mega project and credited Bilal Lashari for working tirelessly on it.
