Where there’s a will, there’s definitely a way. This 18-year-old young man from Skardu ended up teaching himself the Holy Quran. The remarkable thing about him? He didn’t let his physical disabilities deter him from achieving his goals. Liaquat is a handicapped Quran teacher, who’s self-taught.
But that’s not all. The Skardu resident also taught himself English.
The 18-year-old told Pamir Times about how he really wishes to pursue an education but his disability prevents him from doing so. The teenager is self-taught to this point and is fluent in Urdu and English besides his native language. His knowledge of the Quran is most impressive.
“I learned to read the Qaeda (beginner’s book to reading Arabic/Quran). Then I started reading the Quran on my own, and learned on my own,”

Not only did he teach himself to read the Holy Quran, he now also teaches other children in his locality. Despite his ability to pursue knowledge independently, the teenager from Skardu requested that the government helps him in overcoming hurdles:
“I request that I be taken to an organization, please cooperate with me. If I can be treated, help me seek treatment, cooperate with me. Then I can pursue (formal) studies,”

Requesting the government assist him must have taken a lot of courage as this is a wish he even kept from his parents. He opened up about how he had never asked his parents to take him to school due to his disability.
“I never asked them (to take me), because I was handicapped.”
This hesitation does not come from mistreatment as Liaquat explained how everyone was kind to him and has never wronged him. However, the lack of facilities to assist handicapped personnel to live normal lives does contribute to such insecurity.
