This Actually Happened: America Lists ‘Wakanda’ as Its Trading Partner

Did Captain America arrange the trade?

The USA may have kept Area 51 a secret from the public, but it is not fair to hide an entire country! The nation of Wakanda exists! Or at least it does according to the US Department of Agriculture because Prince T’Challa’s kingdom is a free-trade partner of the United States.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at this:

The unusual listing was spotted by Francis Tseng, a New York-based software engineer who was looking up agricultural tariffs for a fellowship he was applying for.

They call it ‘El Dorado’, explorers have looked for it all around the world but found nothing. If only they have looked up the records at the US Department of Agriculture. Apparently the department’s online tariff tracker hosted a detailed list of goods the two nations traded, including ducks, donkeys and dairy cows. Thank God, Prince T’Challa didn’t allow any Vibranium to be exported!

According to a USDA spokesperson, the fictional African nation from the Marvel Universe was added accidentally to the list during a staff test. The fictional country was removed soon from the list after US media first queried it, prompting jokes that the countries had started a trade war.

Here are some interesting tweets about the USDA ‘blunder’:

It is unclear whether Steve Rogers or the late Tony Stark initiated the trade between USA and Wakanda. Sadly, we won’t be able to find out since the country’s name has been removed from the list and the USDA (and pretty much every sane person) is adamant about Wakanda not existing.

Those outfits are so cool though. Who cares what USDA says, we can always explore Africa ourselves! Stay tuned for more updates.
