This Viral Clip of Indian Soldiers Dancing to “Hawa Hawa” is Hilarious

Hassan Jahangir’s Hawa Hawa is just that good. These Indian soldiers agree too.

Here’s something we don’t see everyday. A couple of Indian soldiers swooning and showing off their dance moves at one of the highest battlefields in the world that is.

Yesterday a video clip of Indian soldiers dancing to the evergreen “Hawa Hawa” by Pakistani singer Hasan Jahangir made scores of Twitterati smile.

Here’s the clip in question:

They do say that music has no barriers after all. And we suppose it is true in the case of two hostile, nuclear-armed neighbors who regularly threaten to go to town with each other. Maybe if they did it with a dance-off instead of bullets and bombs, our region could’ve been a better place today.

Twitter Loves It

Both Pakistanis and Indians seem to love it.

The playful moment brought up the subject of bridging distances and promoting cross border peace, something that power-hungry politicians and military leaders should pay heed to.

Even our neighbors know their Pakistani pop music hits from a bygone era:

At such high altitudes their spirits are surely soaring. In sub-zero temperatures, its good to keep moving because it ensures healthy blood flow, and prevents frostbite. These guys are probably doing just that by busting moves.

Some people had plenty of suggestions, but don’t be getting too many crazy ideas now.

That kind of happened before, during an SCO Summit in Russia of all places. Sometimes we forget that soldiers from both sides of the border are human after all, and need to have harmless fun.

We’re all for their taste of a 90s romantic classic, rather than the new remixes. You really can’t beat the old stuff given how it will make anyone bust a move.

That part about music being a universal language? Well here’s another clip that really puts that observation into perspective:

Former President of Pakistan and Chief of Army Staff General (R) Pervaiz Musharraf’s love for dancing is no secret. Back in 2008, he made headlines when he opted for Ranbir Kapoor’s Dehli Wali Girlfriend (there’s just something about Ranbir that Pakistanis take a liking to).

All of this seems too good to be true, given how we have become accustomed to hearing war drums being sounded by leaders of the two countries, sometimes for the flimsiest of reasons. Here’s to hoping that one day we truly do achieve peace in our times.

But for now, we can’t just help but smile at that guy who couldn’t resist including his puppy for one infectious dance number:
