Top 5 Burgers in Karachi

Have you tried these delicious burgers in Karachi?

burgers in karachi

Burgers. They’re a staple in the food industry right next to Biryani and Pizza. It’s a word that unconsciously rolls off your tongue when discussing where to dine and what to eat. Burgers, and burger joints for that matter, are so prevalent in our country that one could be forgiven for assuming it’s been part of our food culture dating back centuries. The truth is, burgers are a very recent discovery for Pakistani society and the very first burger restaurant was opened at the start of the 80s. It was called Mr. Burger and it revolutionized the food industry in Pakistan for decades to come because when we first experienced this perfect creation, which is known as the final evolution of the sandwich, we found ourselves amazed and obsessed.

For the past 40 years, Karachiites have been experimenting on burgers, adapting them into our own desi style, or even improving upon the already presupposed method of creating a burger which was presumed to be perfect, not in need of any refinement. It turns out that burgers can evolve even further when coming into contact with a new culture. Wherever burgers might have originated from, when introduced to Pakistan, it was inextricably changed, metamorphosed even, into a style that is more reflective of Pakistani food. Fast forward to today, and you can find a million, nay, a gazillion different combinations and variations of burgers, each with their own unique ingredients, taste, appearance, and fan following.

In this article, we shall list down what we think are the top 5 burgers in Karachi. Do note, however, that this list is based entirely on anecdotal evidence i.e. personal experience and you are free to disagree with our opinion provided you offer a reasonable argument in support of your statement. As foodies, we do take these things seriously, after all, and so should you. Having said that, here’s a look at our list of top 5 Burgers in Karachi. Enjoy!

5. Messy Meat – Burger O’Clock

As the name implies, this is one messy burger with a host of ingredients added between its two buns (a little too much, if you ask me). According to their website, the Messy Meat is composed of a 7oz Cheese-Stuffed Patty Topped with Warm Nacho Cheese, Red Chilli Cooked in a Tomato-Based Sauce, Onion Rings, Jalapenos, Pickles, Dijon Mayo Sauce, Iceberg Lettuce,……. Marshmallows, Salted Crackers, Pineapple, Natural-Artificial Sweeteners, and much more. Just kidding, the list stops at Iceberg Lettuce, but now you’ve got an idea of just how much goes into creating this heavily loaded burger. (A quick tip: if you’re planning to try one, have your Messy Meat Burger cut in half before serving so as to avoid spillage.)

One great aspect of this burger though is that all of its components mesh together really well to form a distinctive, delectable taste that is almost impossible to replicate even if you happen to know the secret process of making such a burger. And that is exactly why the Messy Meat burger has been awarded fifth place in our list of best burgers in Karachi.

4. Monster Melt – The Melt

Being the most expensive burger on the menu means that there’s something about the Monster Melt that increases its value above the rest. One reason might be the sheer size of the thing. True to its name, the Monster Melt is monstrously big with 3 beef patties interlayered with cheese alongside onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, and EVEN MORE melted cheese added on top.

Suffice it to say, the Monster Melt is not to be taken lightly nor is it a one-person meal. With the amount of meat that goes into making just one of these burgers, you can be absolutely sure that a Monster Melt is all you need to eat for the whole day, and even then, you might be taking your unfinished meal home with you to gorge on the following afternoon.

3. Barrel Origin – Burger N’ Barrel

Launched only recently this year, Burger N’ Barrel has managed to take Karachi’s food scene by storm. Their meteoric rise has made them a worthy contender for best burger joints to visit, not only due to the succulent taste but also the pleasant dining experience they offer. If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past few months, then you’ll probably have heard of this eatery at least once. The Barrel Origin is by far the very best item that you can buy on the menu while also being reasonably low-priced compared to the other entries on this list. Although, value-for-money is not the only perk this burger provides.

The main allure of the Barrel Origin is the premium minced beef patty adorned with spices and the usual assortment of vegetables. The seasoning on the patty is so flawlessly done that just the smell alone is sure to leave you salivating at the mouth. We know that beef burgers, as opposed to chicken, are hard to make and it’s even harder to get the seasoning just right to achieve that full, bursting flavor. Well, with the Barrel Origin, you needn’t have that worry as the taste is simply sublime. If you’re a fan of beef burgers, you HAVE to try this at least once in your life, if only for fear of missing out on something good.

2. Son of a Bun – Howdy

This might come as a surprise to some of you, but the honor of the second-best burger on our list goes to Son of a Bun. While Howdy might not be as well-known as other, mainstream restaurants, it is without a doubt a first-class establishment that serves the best quality food, focusing not just on taste but the hygiene and the overall dining experience. That is not to say that the Son of a Bun does not taste good; quite the opposite in fact.

One detail you’ll notice immediately is that the beef patty is neither pounded nor minced, but grilled like a steak. Another notable element is the turkey strip placed on top of the patty. With the addition of the usual assorted vegetables, this burger elevates itself to a level above the conventional beef burger that is found in just about any restaurant in the city. The Son of a Bun is definitely a cut above the rest and in our view, it has managed to beat out other, stronger competitors that have been popular for quite some time now.

1. Chicken Chipotle – Oh My Grill

OMG is indisputably the best burger restaurant bar none! If you’ve ever been lucky enough to try their Spicy Chipotle burger, you’ll undoubtedly agree with our analysis. This burger is beyond amazing. I remember when I first bit into the marinated chicken breast, the burst of flavors that entered my mouth was the peak achievement of my life. At first look, it just seems like any other burger with its standard list of ingredients. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. However, that’s not all there is to it.

There is a hidden flavor in this burger that is hard to pin down. Since that first time, I’ve had the Spicy Chipotle on multiple occasions and I still could not find out the source of that unique flavor. What makes this burger so much better than the rest? Is it the process, the ingredients, or something else entirely? I guess we’ll never find out. However, one fact I can state with full confidence is that the Spicy Chipotle Chicken burger at Oh My Grill is the best burger I have eaten till now.

    • No doubt the most underrated burger joint is Aussie Burger. Goddamn are their burgers good 😋 but I will admit that the sides are a bit eh. The quality of its beef far surpasses OMG, moreover I’ve tried 5/7 beef burgers they’ve had and all have been spectacular, the Outback burger in particular stands out as the best burger so far. Highly recommended, trust me it DOES NOT dissapoint 👍

  3. Umm….if these 5 are considered the “best”, then unfortunately the standards are very low.

I’ve had some pretty good burgers, and none of the 5 mentioned in this article, come even close.

Obviously everyone has their own preferences, and thus, to each his/her own.

  5. The prices should’ve been mentioned as well so that readers could decide whether these burgers provide adequate value for money.

Talking about burgers, a relatively new brand in the market is “Al-Bhook Burgers”.
Their juicy “Mushroom Tower” is an unbeatable bargain for beefies (Rs.400).
For chicken-lovers, their Juicy “Jinnger” (Rs.350) challenges its eaters to try and finish it whole. None of the burgers fall short of the ‘price-vs-quality-vs-quantity’ equation.

They also have a couple of other low-price, high quality (+quantity) burgers to choose from, but I personally loved those two.
Any drawback? They only offer ‘Take-Away and Delivery (no Dine-In)’.

Definitely worth a try and much better than these minies mentioned in the article.
