Few weeks back, Istanbul Airport gained top global recognition from the International aviation organization, Skytrax. It received top ratings in various categories, including being named as the second international airport to gain “Five-Star COVID-19 Airport” rating.

It also became just one of eight major airports in the world to earn the prestigious rating for its architecture, infrastructure, technology and high-level travel experience.

 

Istanbul Airport handled the pandemic really well and set up commendable measures to combat the spread of coronavirus. Some of these measures include extensive signage and passenger guidance, numerous hand sanitization facilities, personal protective equipment (PPE) disposal points, social distancing adaptions, and a dedicated Bio-Safety Team to enforce these protocols.

These safety measures were also recognized by Skytrax and they gave them the “Five-Star Covid-19 Airport” rating.

 

It also gained the privilege of being the airport with the biggest terminal in the world to earn a five-star rating.

CEO and general manager of IGA, Kadri Samsunlu, who runs the airport, stressed that it had established a customer-oriented culture and will advance it even further.

“We will advance this even further, and our work in this respect is continuing apace,” he added.
