Donald Trump is a narcissist and that’s not a secret. But no one could fathom to what extent. President of the United States delayed relief packages (Trump check) from being distributed just to have his name printed on the checks.
The U.S. government announced that the Internal Revenue Service disbursements would be distributed as $1200 checks to offer relief to citizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic. These ‘Trump checks’ will be given tho those who earn less than $75,000, or a joint income of up to $150,000 for married couples. And they will be completely tax-free.

People with children under 17 will be allowed additional payments of up to $500.
All this is good, but apparently, Trump just delayed this move. Why? Someone forgot to print his name on the check.
Now the U.S. Treasury Department has ordered the IRS to put Trump’s name on the check.
Printing Trump’s name on the checks will delay their distribution for several days. This will prolong the suffering of wage workers or other low-income workers who lost their jobs.
The US public isn’t all too happy about this. They’re not used to politicians putting their names on things like territorial animals.

Some no longer want the relief packages if Trump puts his name on it. Of course, most people will take the check regardless of their political affiliation because it’s their own taxpayer money.
Netizens reacted in many ways:
If I wanted a check signed by Trump I would have become a porn star. #TrumpCheck

I wonder if tomorrow he’ll delay shit even longer just to get his face watermarked on the checks 🧐#TrumpCheck #Stimuluscheck pic.twitter.com/AxzSEdJtdo

Others pointed out the money isn’t sufficient anyway, why all that hassle.

@realDonaldTrump's little munchkin Mnuchin thinks a $1,200 #Trumpcheck (which is really a loan against tax returns) will last 10 weeks. So what Mnuchin spends on lunch a regular american is supposed to buy food, medicine, gas, rent etc.

It seems so ridiculous people can’t wrap their heads around it.
I genuinely thought this was a joke when someone mentioned it on stream today. There is absolutely no tangible benefit to Americans having Trumps signatures on checks beyond wasting ink & stroking his already insatiable ego 🤦♂️ #TrumpCheck #FakePresident https://t.co/Q3iVggJzyr

Why does this sound so familiar?
You’d at least expect the ‘leader of the free world‘ to refrain from doing so with relief funds. Pakistan knows all too well what that feels like. When politicians are more concerned about their diva moment than doing their actual job. The job taxpayer’s money pays them for.
For Pakistanis, this move is reminiscent of what our own politicians have been doing all this time. Be it Nawaz or Shabaz Sharif, Asif Zardari or any Bhutto family member, and even Imran Khan, the country’s current Prime Minister.
Here are some examples of self-promotion by our local politicians:
Looks like the 45th President of the US is not above such PR stunts either.
So what do you think? Should politicians be allowed to promote themselves like this?
