Twitter Defends Sana Mir After She was Trolled for Picture with Male Cricketers

Pakistanis are proud to see the former cricketer share stage with the legends of sport

Pakistani ex-cricketer Sana Mir became the target of unwarranted trolling by men on social media after she shared a picture of herself with cricket legends; Vivian Richards of West Indies, current head coach of Peshawar Zalmi Darren Sammy, Dominick Cork of England, and Mike Haysman of Australia.

Former captain of Pakistan’s national women, on Thursday, posted a picture on her social media with the caption: “Happy times”.

The picture is a moment of pride for many Pakistanis to see their female cricket star representing the nation and sharing the stage with such big names of the sport. Sadly, people on social media could only comment on how Sana was the only woman in a group of men. Some commenters even implied obscene references to the picture.

However, Twitteratis came to Sana Mir’s defense on social media, calling out the trolls for disrespecting their nation’s cricket star with cheap comments. A tweep observed how this is the reality of “living in a man’s world.”

Sana Mir is a world-renowned Pakistani cricketer and commentator. She served as a captain of the Pakistan women’s team in ODIs and T20is. The 36-year-old has played more than 200 international matches for her country, which includes 137 matches as captain of Pakistan. Sana is the highest wicket taker for Pakistan in women’s cricket.
