Twitter Roasts Indian Singers For Copying Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Qawwali

The latest song “Dil Galti Ker Betha Hai” is a blatant rip-off of NFAK’s greatest hit.

Indian music label T-Series makes another cover song of the legendary qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Netizens are going crazy over the new song “Dil Galti Kar Baitha Hai” by music duo Meet Bros. Music fans express their disapproval of T-Series blatantly ripping off another classic from the late qawwali legend’s discography.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is arguably the greatest folk singer in not just Pakistan but around the world. Known as ‘The King of Qawwali, NFAK is famous for introducing the genre to an international audience. His cultural impact has led to NFAK being honored in 2017 with a BBC Music Day Blue Plaque in Birmingham.

Over the years, people have made an effort to replicate his success with various covers to pay tribute to the legend. However, the most notorious music label dead-set on ripping off every NFAK classic is T-Series.

Recently, the latest music artists to cover Nusrat’s song are Meet Bros. The duo, alongside Mouni Roy and Jubin Nautiyal, released a four-minute music video that takes place at a party.

With more than 28 million views on YouTube, the song certainly is making headlines across social media. However, music purists are unhappy with the new version, taking to Twitter to express their disapproval.

In recent times, Bollywood has copied a lot of NFAK’s qawwalis, including the film, Mera Piya Ghar Aya“, “Kitna Pyara Tujhay Rab Ne Banaya” and Mujhe Ek Pal Chain Na Awe’“. All of the songs are ‘slightly’ altered versions of the original, giving T-Series an excuse to avoid plagiarism.
