Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence got trolled online after falsely claiming to be the first woman to get a lead role in an action film. during a discussion with actress and producer Viola Davis for Variety magazine.
While discussing their experience working in a ‘male-dominated’ entertainment industry, Jennifer Lawrence boasted about being a “pioneer” for female actresses by starring as the lead (Katniss Everdeen) in an action film (The Hunger Games).
She said,
I remember when I was doing The Hunger Games, nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work — because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead.
“It just makes me so happy every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every one of those beliefs, and proves that it is just a lie to keep certain people out of the movies,” she added.
Apparently, Jennifer Lawrence does not watch a lot of movies because her claim to be the ‘first female lead in an action movie’ is false.
Here are a few female-led action films that came out before The Hunger Games.
Twitterati roasted the 32-year-old actress for her egocentric remark:
Twitter is where people get big mad at Jennifer Lawrence for ignoring the existence of Signourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton while I get big mad at them for ignoring the existence of Pam Grier. pic.twitter.com/JyQd9qSzuE

I think we should all take a moment and appreciate Jennifer Lawrence's sacrifice
She was the first female action star in HERstory and still only made 20 million for the flop Passengers as a middle school drop out
The unjust systems of America have oppressed her for long enough!— Nerdrotic (@Nerdrotics) December 8, 2022
Jennifer Lawrence saying that she was the first woman to ever lead an action movie is so disrespectful to these icons. pic.twitter.com/9sIlFTA5lC

Even Hollywood legend, Denise Crosby, who played Security Chief Tasha Yar on Star Trek: The Next Generation, took a dig at J-Law:
Hey Jennifer Lawrence, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to thank the many boys/men who were allowed to completely identify with a strong female character long before you were even born. There are a couple of us…@StarTrek

A couple of tweeps trolled Jennifer Lawrence by stating she also invented the internet and electricity!
It's a shame Al Gore took credit for inventing the internet when all know it was Jennifer Lawrence pic.twitter.com/Am6k4nxHas

I think it's a shame that Nikola Tesla took credit for inventing the alternating current when we all know it was Jennifer Lawrence. pic.twitter.com/VBpygzONr9
