The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan H.E Hamd Ubaid Ibrahim has gifted a fully furnished house to a lady fruit seller from Islamabad.
The kind gesture came in response to the brave fruit seller Yasmeen’s call for help after she faced eviction from her rented house. She had faced difficulties in paying the rent.
The UAE envoy learned about her struggles from social media and decided to gift her house in Islamabad to ease her struggles.
About the Lady Fruit Seller
Yasmeen sells fruit in Islamabad, specifically in the vicinity of Golrah Sharif. She caught the attention of many after a video featuring her went viral on social media last year.
She started selling fruits to make ends meet after her husband (also a fruit seller) passed away, leaving behind a family of five with no one else to look after them.
Every morning, the brave woman wakes up early to make ends meet. After preparing breakfast for her children, and dropping them to school, she visits the fruit market to buy fruits for her cart.
“I have been doing this for 1.5 years. When I used to work, my salary couldn’t meet my house expenses that is why I put up a fruit stall so my children can study.”
She has been doing this now for nearly three years. But her eight-year-old son says he won’t let her mother work for a long time.
“I will soon grow up and work day in and day out to earn money.”
For the last couple of months, she was struggling to raise enough money to feed her children and pay for rent.
The fully-furnished house in Islamabad will make life easier for Yasmeen and her five children.
