Rumor has it that Fahad Mustafa will star in ‘Rawalpindi Express’.

The singer-cum-actor, Umair Jaswal, announced yesterday on his social media that he will no longer be a part of the much-anticipated biopic of Pakistan’s living legend and world-famous pacer, Shoaib Akhtar.

He tweeted,

Due to creative and personal reasons I have decided to step away from the Shoaib Akhtar biopic project RAWALPINDI EXPRESS. I will no longer be associated with any media or news related to this project.

Wishing everyone involved all the best.

Umair Jaswal declined to dish on the reason for his announcement.

Subsequently, people are curious about who will take his place in this first international film about a Pakistani sports figure, which is scheduled to be released on 16 November 2023.

Fahad Mustafa

If the grapevine is to be believed, Lollywood actor, Fahad Mustafa, will now play the titular character and lead role in Rawalpindi Express. Note that there is no official statement on this yet.

The world’s fastest bowler had announced the launch of his biopic last July on Twitter:

Beginning of this beautiful journey. Announcing the launch of my story, my life, my Biopic, RAWALPINDI EXPRESS – Running against the odds. You’re in for a ride you’ve never taken before. A first foreign film about a Pakistani Sportsman. Controversially yours, Shoaib Akhtar.

Faraz Qaiser is directing the film under the banner of Qfilm Productions.

Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar, aka the ‘Rawalpindi Express’, is renowned for his lightning-quick pace and ability to bowl fierce bouncers that made the batters of his time fear taking the crease against him.

The former right-arm pacer also holds the record for the quickest delivery — 161.3 kmph — bowled in the history of cricket.
