Unmasking: Pakistan’s Most Acclaimed Short Film Wins American Award

The short film deals with the subject of vaccine hesitancy and issue of public health emergencies

Unmasking, the most awarded short film, from Pakistan, has won “The Best Film on Mental Health ” award, from the IMDb-accredited, MLC/Scene Awards. The event is being held in the city of Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA.

The film festival statement reads,

We want to recognize the talent poured onto that scene you want us to look at…by keeping it short, memorable and sweet.

The short film was written and directed by Khalid Hasan Khan and produced by Syed Ovais Ali, with Sham Ravi as DP. The cast of the film stars Ali E, Danish Wakeel, and Talal Farhat. The film deals with the subject of vaccine hesitancy and the issue of public health emergencies in the realm of infectious diseases.

Khalid Hasan Khan mentioned, “Since its first win, from the Istanbul Film Awards, Türkiye, on 31st August 2021, the short film, Unmasking, is the most screened and awarded film, thanks to its storytelling power, as it subtly touches on the hypersensitive issue of vaccine hesitancy, by delving deep into human mind, through analyzing psychographic variables.”

Earlier, Unmasking has won twelve international awards, in the categories of, The Best Concept, The Best Creative Film, The Best Editing, The Best Screenplay, The Best Director, The Best Writer, The Best International Short Film, The Best Shorts (under 30 minutes), The Best Foreign Short Film, from the international film festivals of the different foreign countries.
