Yasir Hussain Calls Out Pakistanis For Mistreating Flight Attendants

Keep your privilege in check!

Yasir Hussain

Yasir Hussain has a sense of humor that is not for everyone. Yet the comedian tends to highlight social issues in his own way. Now he’s tackling how Pakistani men treat women in the service industry, particularly flight attendants.

The Lahore Se Agay actor confronted Pakistani men after boarding a flight where he saw passengers misbehaving with air hostesses

So the screenwriter took a photograph of the incident and publically called out this behavior. In his Instagram caption, the Jhooti actor expressed his disappointment at Pakistani men for not respecting flight attendants and their profession.

“Awaam khas tor pe mardon ko lagta hai k jahaaz mai kaam karny wali khawateen jo aap ko hazaron feet uper aasman pe khana deti hain aap k jhooty barton uthati hain woh baap ki nokar hain. [Pakistani people, especially men, think that women working in airplanes, who serve you food, and pick your dirty plates several feet (above ground) in the sky, are their slaves.]

Yasir Hussain then called out how people display a lack of manners and ethics while speaking to them. In his observation, this is because these people look down on these women for working in the ‘service industry.’

“Tameez se baat karna seekhen .🙏🏼 [Learn to speak politely] Khudara different professions ka ehtaraam karen. [For God’s sake, kindly respect all professions.]”

While we’re quick to call out the ‘entitlement of celebs and other public figures we first need to keep our own privilege in check. It’s high time we stop looking down at people for the nature of their work. The service industry comprises essential workers because society needs them more than it needs us. The 2020 pandemic should have made us realize that already.
