Yasir Hussain Made A Transphobic Remark On Social Media And That’s Not Cool at All

He should’ve known better.

Yasir Hussain

Actor and comedian Yasir Hussain made a rather uncalled-for statement, this time about the transgender community. The actor attempted to use the word ‘transgender’ as an insult.

The irony of the matter is that he’s going to portray a transgender woman on TV. And he made those insensitive remarks on a post which showcases his character in upcoming drama serial ‘Help me Durdana’.

Yasir was clad in Asim Jofa, Nomi Ansari, Deepak and Fahad and Deepak Parwani  ‘sarees’ and thanked the designers for dressing him. Since he’s a man dressed as a woman, people assumed he’s playing a transgender woman.

Some fans suggested that the role could have been better suited for someone who is a transgender themselves. They called for inclusivity.

‘Why don’t you guys hire actual transgenders?’

Yasir Hussain not only mocked the idea but ridiculed transgender people in the process.

“‘Matlab app ko job chahiye?’ meaning ‘so you need a job huh?”

The guy who raised the issue clapped back of course. He advised Yasir to work on his insults because ‘transgender’ is no bad word.

A Good Thing Turns Bad

Yasir Hussain had been praised for taking on the challenging role. The actor was commended for his progressive choice to take on a character that male leads typically shy away, for fear of being feminized.

But after his recent insensitive remarks, we guess him sharing his feminine avatar on his Instagram story was more of a trophy than about having actual progressive values.

Yasir Hussain Doesn’t Learn

This isn’t the first time the actor faced backlash for his prude remarks. Remember that time when he made a joke about pedophilia and child abuse? It almost killed his career.

At the HUM Awards Show 2017, when Ahsan Khan won the award for Best Actor in a negative role for drama serial Udaari, Yasir infamously remarked that:

itna khoobsurat child molester, kash mein bhi bacha hota’ (maining what a beautiful child molester, if only I were a child).

Which is kinda ironic when you consider that the drama serial Udaari attempted to raise awareness on child sexual abuse and Yasir Hussain made it a joke. Despite his apology, fans were not ok with his insensitivity and ignorance.

After the backlash, the actor was on a hiatus till HUM Network had him host their late night The Aftermoon Show.
