You Won’t Believe How Huge This Starbucks Cafe Is [Pictures]

A new destination for coffee lovers.

Starbucks

Starbucks opened its largest Roastery in Chicago and we can tell by the looks of it that it is nothing but grand. The five storey location is 35,000 square feet and houses three coffee bars, a cocktail bar, and a bakery and cafe. Amazing, right?

If that weren’t surprising enough, here are more surprising facts about the newly opened Starbucks Reserve Roastery.

Where is it located?

The Reserve Roastery is located in the heart of Michigan Avenue, Chicago. It replaced the aesthetically pleasing interior of Crate and Barrel, which is a US-based industry that specializes in housewares, furniture, and home accessories. This location is the coffee chain’s sixth roastery.

What does it look like?

As mentioned before, the Roastery is nothing but grand and gorgeous. The tall windows allow natural light to reflect the beauty of bronze and white interior.

At center space, spanning all five floors is a towering coffee bean cask. Freshly roasted coffee beans rest in the 56-foot-tall bronze container before being used in drinks. The bronze-clad cask is surrounded by a curved escalator that allows the customers to have a 360-degree view of the roasting and brewing process of the coffee beans from the very top. How cool is that!

Despite all that avante-garde interior people were in a bit of a fix going all the way to the top.

According to the design director, Jill Enomoto:

“How do you create this magical experience where you can engage the customer on different levels, … and you can bring them up and ensure they don’t just walk in the front door and say, ‘Oh, I saw the roaster!‘”

Each floor has a charm of its own. You see the white furniture everywhere, however, it looks and feels completely different. For example, on the first floor, is the Starbucks Reserve coffee bar, where you can watch the beans being roasted all day, whereas on the second floor is a Pinci cafe where huge iron ovens bake oven-fresh baked goods including pastries and pizzas. The third floor offers the only location in the United States to sell liquid nitrogen gelato, a sweet dessert designed to be eaten with coffee. And on the fourth floor is a cocktail bar.

Kevin Johnson, CEO of Starbucks, expressed his feelings on the opening of the gigantic Roastery

He says that they are trying to give their customers what no one else can do – an “immersive customer experience” around coffee.
