Youngster From Tharparkar Commits Suicide For Not Getting A Smart Phone

A tragedy.

A 20-year-old from Tharparkar committed suicide after his parents refuse to buy him a new smart phone. The tragic incident took place on Monday, in the village Daanto of Nangar Parkar Taluka.

Digital addiction to blame?

What is it about a smartphone that entices people so much? Granted, there is that feeling of satisfaction when you’re unboxing a brand new iPhone or another popular Android smartphone. But at the end of the day, it just a gadget with a few apps and that we can live without. However, this was not the case for 20-year-old Hashim, who couldn’t live in a world without a smartphone of his own.

A youngster committed suicide in the Tharparkar district on Monday after he was denied a new smartphone from his parents. According to reports, the incident took place in the village Daanto of Nangar Parkar Taluka. The young man, Hashim, was the son of Dewji Kolhi.

He decided to end his life by hanging himself when his wish for a new phone was denied. The police have handed over the body of the young man to the parents after completing all the legal formalities.

Hashim’s father told reporters that his son asked him to get a new smartphone but he could not meet his demands. Thus, after being turned down, Hashim took an extreme step.

It is truly unfortunate when we let materialistic things dictate our lives.
