PESHAWAR: Naeem Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (Pedo), embarked on a visit to evaluate the advancement of ongoing hydropower initiatives in the districts of Swat and Lower Dir.
In an official statement, it was reported that the CEO commenced his inspection at the 36-megawatt Daral Khwar power plant in Swat.
During the visit, he assessed the emergency safety protocols and the pace of work concerning flood protection measures for the power plant and the associated settlement.
Later, he inspected the establishment of the colony at the Gabral Kalam 88-megawatt hydropower project site.
Expressing contentment, he signaled his approval of the ongoing progress and issued directives to ensure the timely completion of the ongoing tasks.
The CEO also conducted an on-site inspection at the location of the ongoing 84-megawatt Gorkin Matiltan Hydropower project in Swat district.
Recognizing the challenges posed by the deteriorated condition of the Bahrain-Kalam Road, he urged the project authorities to expedite the construction work.
He acknowledged that the project’s timeline had been affected by this road’s condition.
Meanwhile, Khan also visited a 40.8-megawatt Koto power plant in the Lower Dir district.
During his visit, he engaged with a group of Chinese engineers and expressed concern about issues related to importing electromechanical equipment, along with the sluggish pace of work.
In his address, Khan emphasized the transformative impact of ongoing energy ventures that are dedicated to generating cost-effective hydropower within the province.
He asserted that these initiatives hold the potential to reshape the economic landscape of the region and address the prevalent energy crisis across the nation.
Beyond bolstering the availability of affordable electricity, he highlighted the potential for industrial growth and the creation of fresh employment opportunities within the province.
