T20 World Cup 2022 Schedule

The T20 World Cup schedule has been finalized as 16 teams battle it out for a month to be crowned as the T20 World Champions. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will start from 16 October with the first-round match between Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka and Namibia. The final of the mega event will take place on 13 November at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The 16-team tournament has been divided into two phases. The first phase will include Round 1, which is scheduled to take place from 16 October to 21 October. Eight lowest-ranked teams have been divided into two groups of four with the top two teams in each group at the end of Round 1 advancing to the second round of the competition, known as the Super 12s.

2022 T20 World Cup – Round 1

The T20 World Cup groups contain four teams divided into two groups in the first round of the tournament.

Namibia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and UAE are the four teams in Group A of Round 1, whereas, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland and Zimbabwe have been put together in Group B of Round 1. Group A will play their matches at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong, Australia, while Group 2’s matches will be held at Bellerive Oval, Hobart, Australia.

According to the T20 World Cup schedule, all teams will play against each other once and the two teams with the most points at the end of the round will qualify for the next round, while the bottom two teams in each group will be knocked out of the mega-event.

T20 World Cup – Super 12s

According to the T20 World Cup 2022 schedule, the Super 12s will include the top eight T20I teams along with four qualifiers from round 1 of the T20 World Cup.

These Twelve teams have been divided into two groups of six teams each, accordingly, the top two teams from each group at the end of the round will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

Australia, England, New Zealand and Afghanistan along with two qualifiers (Winner Group A and Runner-up Group B) have been put together in Group 1, while Pakistan, India, South Africa and Bangladesh along with two qualifiers (Winner Group B and Runner-up Group A) have been put together in Group 2.

The Super 12s round of the competition will commence from 22 October as hosts and defending champions Australia take on New Zealand at Sydney Cricket Ground. The tournament will heat up as arch-rivals Pakistan and India lock horns in front of a jam-packed crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 23 October.

The final match of the Super 12s stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup will be played between Pakistan and Bangladesh on 6 November at Adelaide Oval, Australia.

The 2022 T20 World Cup semi-finals will be played on 9 and 10 November.  The first semi-final clash will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground between the winner of Group 1 and the Runner-up of Group 2 on 9 November, while the second semi-final clash between Winner of Group 2 and Runner-up of Group 1 will be played at Adelaide on 10 November.

The final of the mega-event will take place on 13 November at the MCG.
