The 2022 T20 World Cup is heading to Australia and it promises to be one for the ages. Superstars such as Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, Shaheen Afridi, David Warner, Kane Williamson, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Kagiso Rabada will be seen in action as top international teams look to lift up the coveted T20 World Cup trophy.

Former Sri Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene leads the charts for most runs in T20 World Cup history. Jayawardene scored 1,016 runs at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 134.74 in 31 T20 World Cup innings. No other batter in the history of the tournament has crossed the 1,000-run milestone.
Jayawardene is followed by the Universe boss, Chris Gayle, who scored 965 runs in 31 innings he played in the mega-event.Tillakaratne Dilshan and the Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli round up the top five highest run-scorers in T20 World Cups.
It will be interesting to see who will lead the run-scoring charts for T20 World Cup 2022 stats.
Current Bangladesh captain, Shakib Al Hasan is the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history. Shakib has picked up 41 wickets so far and will be looking to add to his tally in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Shakib is followed by former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, who had picked up 39 wickets in his career. Lasith Malinga, Saeed Ajmal and Ajantha Mendis round up the top five highest wicket-takers in the mega-events history.
With the emergence of Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada and Mark Wood only time will tell who will become the leading wicket-taker in the upcoming tournament to lead the T20 World Cup 2022 stats.
The Universe boss, who else? Chris Gayle is the leading six-hitter in T20 World Cups with a mammoth 63 maximums in 31 innings. Former Indian batter, Yuvraj Singh holds the second spot with 33 sixes in 28 innings.
Shane Watson, Rohit Sharma and David Warner are the other three batters in the leading six-hitting charts in the T20 World Cup.

Former champions, Sri Lanka have the highest total in the tournament’s history. They scored 260/6 against Kenya in 2007, the inaugural edition of the competition.
