A total of 16 T20 World Cup teams will take part in the mega-event. Top 8 ranked international T20 teams will compete in the Super 12s stage, where they will be joined by four best performing teams in the first round of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
2022 Asia Cup champions, Sri Lanka, along with former T20 World Cup champions, West Indies, will play in the first round alongside the likes of Ireland, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Netherlands, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Sri Lanka, Namibia, Netherlands and UAE will compete in Group A. Whereas, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Scotland are in Group B. Top two teams from each group will move forward to the Super 12s stages of the competition.
T20 World Cup 2022 teams in the Super 12s include the likes of defending champions, Australia former champions, Pakistan, India and England, and four other teams including, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan.
Defending champions, Australia are considered strong favorites to defend their title in front of their home crowd. The likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc along with the call-up of explosive middle-order batter, Tim David, makes them one of the teams to watch out for in the tournament.
Former champions, Pakistan are also considered one of the favorites to lift the trophy. Presence of Babar Azam along with the likes of Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah makes the Men in Green one of the most exciting teams to look out for in the mega-event.
India, is also one of the favorites to win the trophy. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya make the Men in Blue a formidable T20I side.
Similarly, England has a plethora of stars in their ranks. Players such as Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Mark Wood, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone and the returning Alex Hales. It would not be a surprise to see England qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
South Africa is yet another side that is on the rise under the leadership of Temba Bavuma. The Proteas star batter, Rassie van der Dussen suffered an injury which has ruled him out of action. Nevertheless, the likes of Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada makes them one of the most feared bowling units in the world
New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh also have exceptional T20 sides. They possess some of the best players in the world. Stars such as Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill, and Trent Boult including various other superstars. The three teams could prove to be a surprise package in the tournament.
Elsewhere,the T20 World Cup players list includes star players such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Bhanuka Rajapaksa Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Sikandar Raza, David Wiese and Harry Tector who will be seen in action in the first round of the mega-event.
