Clash of Titans: Pakistan Face India in U-19 World Cup Semi Final

Its all set for yet another Pakistan-India face-off, this time in Under-19 (U-19) cricket World Cup.

Junior cricket? No problem. It’s all the same when it comes to this rivalry.

India U-19 stormed their way into the semi-final of U-19 World Cup by overpowering Bangladesh U-19 earlier today. The team led by Prithvi Shaw easily defended 265 to make their way into yet another semi-final.

Venue & What to Expect

The arch-rivals clash is set to be played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Tuesday 30th January 2018. With all eyes eagerly waiting for the biggest game of the tournament, the match promises to be a promising one.

Both teams are in cracking form, with India slightly ahead in terms of their batting and fielding, but Pakistan have an impressive bowling line-up which would turn out to be a challenge for the in-form Indian top order.

It would be interesting to see how the Indian batsmen deal with the left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has an uncanny habit of picking up wickets early in the innings and runs at the top of the order are India’s strong suit, making this encounter a spectacle to watch.

Players Remarks

Both Pakistanis Indians are excited about the big game. While Pakistanis will look to repeat the performance their senior team gave in the Champions Trophy Final last year, the Indians will look to avenge the same.

“We are excited to play Pakistan. It will be a great match,” said Shubman Gill, who top-scored for India today with 86 runs earning him the Player of the Match award.

Previous Meetings

In the last five completed matches, India have had the upper hand, winning on three occasions with Pakistan emerging victorious once; one match ended in a tie.

However, it would be unfair to judge these teams based on what’s happened in the past as those players who played in those encounters no longer play for junior teams.
