A passenger bus caught fire on the M-5 Motorway on Tuesday, triggering an emergency response from the Motorway Police who managed to rescue all 40 passengers safely.
According to Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the incident occurred when a bus traveling from Karachi to Dera Ghazi Khan caught fire due to friction in one of its tires.
Patrolling officers quickly launched rescue operations and began extinguishing the blaze using fire-fighting equipment.
“All passengers were evacuated without any injuries,” the spokesperson confirmed.

Following the incident, Punjab Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan took immediate notice and ordered a thorough inquiry. He directed officials to submit a detailed report and ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
The minister thanked God for the safe evacuation of all passengers and said steps are being taken to strictly enforce the vehicle fitness certificate system.
Authorities have assured that maintenance checks will be intensified to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
